Painting my Garage

My garage is a complete tip. Everything gets dumped there now but, time was it used to be smart and well organised. I plan to do a big clear out and reorganise it.

However it is unpainted. There is a considerable amount of dust as a result and plenty of spiders etc.

I was planning to remove everything to the front garden, cover the bits that are not to be painted (MCD board, Elec sockets, light switches and lights etc internal door and new Mahogany garage doors) and then simply hire a paint sprayer and go nuts in there.

I would be happy with exterior white wall paint on the walls ceiling and floor. It's clean, simple and creates space.

I will need to wipe doen the walls and ceiling first and vacuum the floor as the concrete is very uneven and dusty. I will probably paint over the old shelves also as they are not a feature but are very useful.

I will treat the paint on the floor as an undercoat. How should I finish that off?

Also, can you hire one of those paint sprayers?

    Thanks

You can get specialist paint for garage floors, its slightly rubbery and is usually black, grey or red.
I painted my garage last year, I used the cheapest white paint possible, stuff you would normally only use as a basecoat for newly plastered walls - as the room is utilitarian and is not meant to be pretty. It made a huge difference in bouncing the light around. I also did the ceiling. Don't use exterior paint on the inside! Its really expensive. Hire a sprayer from HSS or similar and you can do it in no time, (Wear a mask and cover anything you don't want sprayed).

    Thanks,

funny that, I thought I saw a huge tub of exterior white wall paint in B&Q or Atlantic for abotu €15. Must have been own brand and about 20L. Anyway I will get the cheapest.

    Thanks for the advice
