Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Man utd and Chelsea for the only away wins, with Aston villa continuing their progress under Martin O'Neil, a rested midweek Arsenal getting a win against a newly promoted side keeping the momentum from last Weekend going and table toppers Portsmouth succumbing to the fact they currently are considerd a big game and only getting a draw.

Hmmm, you notice how dead this forum is when pool and united aren't playing. All games 0-0 apart from Wigan who are leading 1-0 against Watford, and Blackburn who are leading 1-0 away to boro.

Villa have just taken the lead against Charlton. A stunning finish from Agbonlahor

Make it 1-0 to villa as well.

erm does anyone know why John Terry isn't playing today at Fulham? couldn't believe it when I saw he wasn't in the starting line up. he's on me fantasy footie team just wondering as I hadn't heard of any injuries....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,164 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Who is this moron commentating on setanta calling mourinho a genius over and over and over again, just because he brought Lampard off a minute early for a standing ovation?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Villa 2 up, you got to wonder about O'Leary as O'Neill can do so much better with the same squad.

Chelsea 2 up, it may be my "red googles" but they don't remotely look like a team who will be top of the table at 5 pm.

    Mike.

City beat West ham 2-0, I really thought the Hammers would be a top team this season.

wtf! another of my Fantasy Footie players not starting - Wes Brown :( I presume Mourinho was resting Terry and Ferguson is resting Brown for Cl mid-week action?

Yeah I've Brown as well. Bloody disgusted. Didn't even hear about Saha's injury either until after this morning's deadline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Good result for Villa again, I was worried the initial influence O'Neill had on the team might might have been dying out but still unbeaten and 100% at home.

Doyle just scored from the spot against Utd, keeper should have saved it tbh, but fair play well done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,908 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Peno!!! Come on Doyle....

    Super Kev Doyle!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Ferdinand is the one who should have been dropped, not Brown.

Once again we can see United are not up to it,against a fairly average at best team, with all the possesion, yet they cannot score, let alone create more than 2 good chances. If they were good enough, they would be ripping this team apart.

    Balls!

Did Neville actually stick out his arm? I saw it really quickly and it looked like it just bounced up at hime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,908 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Yeah it bounced up and hit the arm. If that was a peno then Newcastle are owed three from the other night. Delighted it was given though!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Ah it was harsh but a peno was the right decision imo, he could have moved his arm imo.

Ah I'm a City fan. Of course I'm gonna be happy. I did say it was harsh though.

The chant going around is pretty good - "Are you City in disguise?". Even I cracked a smile at that.

    that was a decent goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

It was a decent finish but if you let a player of his ability turn you to go outside and shoot you are always liable to concede a goal. Force him down the inside and its then up to your defenders to win the cross.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,908 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Poor Shane Long. All kitted out and ready to come on against United and Murty pulls up injured meaning a defender has to go on instead. Unlucky. Stephen Hunt got on though. Is there a place in the Ireland squad for him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

With the possesion we had, we should have won this game. But we never stretched their defence. Ronaldo was our only threat the whole game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 868 ✭✭✭tdv

So back to the same old story. Chelsea top of the lot with United trailig behind them. Decent goal from Ronaldo & the peno was abit dodgey still a bad performance, should be ripping teams like that apart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Frustrating. So much possession, but not clinical. Ronaldo was the only one who ever threatened, got a lovely and deserved goal.
Rooney showed flashes but still isn't back to his best. Saha and Solskjaer weren't really effective when they came on. Neville, even aside from conceding the penalty had a shocker, he gave away a lot of possession.
On the bright side, Heinze and Vidic returning, I thought Heinze in particular had a good game. Still the same old player!

Disappointing day overall. Especially on a day when Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal won and won well.
