i expect a human point of view.

But calculate how the teaser was done...then take in the previous films by Micheal Bay. I'm picturing tense scenes in control rooms and oval offices with dull 2d military characters or political/scientific characters droning on about the impact of this attack, how should we respond, lets put together this highly risky plan and work with the autobots.

I'd perfer for the most part these sort of military/official characters spend most of the film sh*tting their pants and running away. And focus on one or two developed human characters to do most of the human POV.

I agree with you there anyway. The one single thing that worries me the most about this film is Michael Bay. Apart from The Rock and (controversially) the 1st Half of The Island I've hated all his work to date.

Still at least we can be thankful Roland Emmerich isn't directing it.

    2 things really worry about this;

    1. Michael Bay
    2. Artistic License

Put the 2 of them together and we have the makings of another Captain America* on our hands

*Nekkidbibleman just reminded me of this abomination of a comic book movie today.....I still feel sick.

    Giant robots at war.

Thats what it should all be about.

Humans should be innocent bystanders and incidental characters.

My fear is it becomes about some kid who gets involved in the war and becomes its crux, and his life at home. its happened before...

Small Soldiers had a kid caught up in a war between two warring robot factions and it was pretty good... although it's a long time since I've seen it.

there's some book written that proves that small soldiers is the perfect blockbuster film...i remember seeing it a few years ago and laughing. But then remembered i liked small soldiers.

-i dont know if it was the blatant selling of the army, or micheal bay...but that put me off the film even more.

Well hopefully i will have such low expectations that i will be blown away by it.

but then i remember i hoped the same for xmen 3, and it turned out worse then even the low standards i expected of it.

Did they say a large portion of the film will be in the middle east?

Perhaps we'll be seeing the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya from the cartoon series after all.

the country will be changed into a islamic fundamentalist cause no one is scared of socialists like they were in the 80's (sniff...good times.)

You can't deny that he does sell the military well in his movies tho. For example I remember after his Pearl Harbor movie having a powerful urge to go out there join the Japanese army.

yeah but in fairness it is a military website, filmed by the military and all that...

Not to get too bogged down in political agenda's but it all sounds a bit dubious from that clip. He was talking about portaying the army in a positive light and about recruitment. With all the sh*t going on the middle east at the moment, sounds like we could have another Top Gun on our hands maybe???

Dear jesus, that really sounds like a disaster in the making.

Nothing wrong with Top Gun :)

I agree though, it's starting to look like my worst fears are being realised. Michael Bay's 2 hour feature bl0w j0b for the US ARMY. Mmmm can't wait. He even mentioned that this was a recruitment opportunity for the ARMY. Dear God

And what was that about the guy with the fake mustache stepping out of a Decepticon helicopter with a mean look on his face? oh dear....

They've altered Optimus Prime in fundamental ways, and after we had completed the comic "Michael Bay's Camp" responded to some of the criticisms. Some of these are extremely interesting - particularly how fast and loose the cartoon plays with something as fundamental as physical size. There are so many variations on every Transformer that in the panoply of market tested products at least one of them probably conforms to their vision. I don't know if I can get behind the flames. But if one is to grip the demographic associated with programs like "Overhaulin'," "Monster Garage," and "American Chopper," then the Market Gods must have their sacrifice.
If the guys @ Penny-Arcade speak the truth, the movie is gonna suck :(

give it a chance. you can't go on some rant and conclude a movie that still has an entire year of production left will suck.

it's live action versions of your youth. they wont please you entirely... but it's a movie, it can't conform to the cartoon entirely.

wait and see what comic-con has for us, because i think that might be where we get some real footage (not of the transforming though, bay wants you to see that happen when your bum is firmly planted on a seat, unlike king kong where you saw kong months before)...

    nice sig btw :p
i made my bebo profile all transformers-ish :D

Who else thinks they should reuse the soundtrack from the original film? At least the title track anyway. Cheesy 80s goodness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

The title track from the movie was an updated version from the tv show wasn't it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Ah yes... "You got the touch!" which was most recently heard in the film Boogie Nights.

that songs brings a tear to my eye still.

Ok the physics exlaination for the long nose truck is valid but Flames! Why make Prime anything other than red? It just doesn't make sense.

I really hope the fan pressure will keep Bay on the straight and narrow but I have serious doubts.

The most political it ever got was with the Republic of Carbombya which was a rouge arab state that was paying Trypticon barrels of oil so that he would steal world famous monuments from around the world.

It was in pretty poor taste.. ha.

Yeah pretty much, same chorus and added in a couple of verses. Performed by Lion, it's real 80s, big hair, cheesy rock.
