and you have kernans there now too (although if its anything like the kernans shop in newtown you'll need to win the euromillions to shop there), i was in andies (i think its called) a few times too its wasnt too bad price wise but selection wise it wasnt too hot...

I think an aldi or lidl would suit the town far better. Tesco won't be that different to super valu imo.

Agree, there seems to be more of a gap in the town for it.

Kernans seems to be drawing a decent crowd, esp the diner in it looks to be doing well.

Andies is competitive on prices but it's a stack em high sort of shop alright.

Can't understand for the life of me how Donnellys, Andies and Kernans will survive within a few feet of each other. Is there still going to be room for the likes of Maguires up the street.

Heard Dunnion's Garage has been sold to either Aldi or Lidl.

Hopefully Aldi, might be a benefit to some in Donegal Town, closer than Letterkenny.

Aldi are opening a new megastore in Letterkenny. I doubt they will risk opening in Ballybofey, a few minutes away.

Didn't they just update the old Aldi in Letterkenny?

Noticed that. Wonder has it anything to do with the application for a Lidl store 100 metres down the road?

It looks from the planning application that it is peter dunion and his brother. They will either try something themselves or maybe get the franchise for a LIDL??

Its definitely Lidl for now anyhow. The Dunnions are the applicants but the plans clearly show the Lidl signs and logos

Lidl should be good value for the twin towns and the surrounding areas. Another option.

i assumed that all them shops worked under a franchise scheme? So it would be lidl yes but dunnions own it?

Not sure how that works. Dunnions may well own the site and possibly the building but in turn it would be leased to Lidl I'd imagine.

that ex counciller was spot on about tesco i c they reapplied a few weeks ago but withdrew after a few days theyre loosers they would of closed a lot of small bus. down its a pity she didnt run again she was didnt slabber about it she just got it done as regards lidl they are great value and should be good 4 town. also they will buy the building outright pending planning!

Apparently there's a new notice erected on the Tesco site date 5th May so we can expect another application to be submitted shortly.
