Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How many hole in ones at Ryder Cup?

We all saw Casey and Verplank hole out at 14 in one, but think about this:

Casey's opponent (Cink I think) did not play a shot as he could not win his match even if he did hole out, so in essence when Casey shook hands with him he was conceding a hole in one to his opponent.

Were there 2 or 3 hole in ones???

no when casey shook hands with him the americans it was because they had conceeded the game, knowing that they couldn't better him and therefore lost the match

Yes but under the rules of golf, Casey conceded a Hole in One to his opponent.

no, the americans conceeded the game, casey didn't conceed. he got his hole in one and the yanks came over and conceeded, knowing full well that they couldn't win or half.casey had just put himself in a cannot fail to win position the yanks recognised this and conceeded.

the americans chose not to contest the hole as it was a futile endevour, therefore they are the conceeding party.

I think there has only been a few hole-in-one's in the history of teh ryder cup.

didn't darren clarke get one a couple of tournaments ago?

I agree with Hartely. Cink conceeded the hole to Casey, and therefore registered no score on that particular hole.

Indeed he did. As the Americans could only halve the hole at best and still lose 5&4, Casey did the honourable thing and conceded the shot. The official records show it:

If the Americans conceded the hole the score would have been 6&4.

Had the radio on yesterday while there and listening to Ryder Cup Radio when Verplank got his and one commentator said "the first American hole in one at the Ryder Cup and it doesnt mean a thing". :D

Sorry, you're right. I just checked there myself, and saw it went down as 5&4.

on official ryder cup, is entered as a hole in one: http://www.rydercup.com/2006/europe/scoring/matches/43.html

casey's was the fifth hole in one in ryder cup history. that means there's now been six hole in ones in total.
