Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The coming weekends premiership action

It's an odd week in that there's a lot of really tough matches on.

One of the harder weekends to pick a winner I think.

    BOL v LIV
    CHE v AVL
    CHA v ARS
    EVE v MANC
    SU v MID
    WHAM v RDG
    BLA v WIG
    MANU v NEW
    TOT v POR
    WAT v FUL

I'd say Arsenal and Everton are my two first picks to win their games.

Bolton vrs Liverpool is a tough one. Liverpool are beginning a roll but Bolton at the Rebook is never easy.

An in-form Aston Villa vrs an out-of-form & coming back from Europe Chelsea?

The rock that is Portsmouth vrs a free scoring(:D ) Spurs?

    Blackburn/Wigan

    Sheffield/Boro

    Really tough week to pick.

Please post some facts to back up this statement.

Is it the coming back from Europe part that you are basing this assumption on?

That was disproved to an extent last night, beaten by a poor Bolton side who hadn't won away in almost 10 months.

Everton are by no means a certainty. City are coming off the back of an excellent and comfortable win against West Ham. Samaras is finally playing in his preferred position and Miller and Richards have pace to burn on either side. I'm confident we can take a point, if not all three from Goodison.

Jesus, you really have to watch what you say here don't you.

I simply ment that Villa are in their best for in a few years.

Chelsea while being ruthlessely efficient have yet to hit their top gear. They'll be playing mostly the same squad that plays tomorrow night and may find the going tough.

I'm really dreading Newcastle going to Old Trafford. Practically everyone I know just happens to support Man Utd.

shocking decision by the linesman leads to a bolton goal

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Five Live are certain Reina still had the ball as he crossed outside the area.

Five Live are backpedaling now. Linesman screwup.

no way did he, the ball was quite clearly out of his hands

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Nope he throw the ball up in the air just before he crossed the line, he kicked it outside his area but he definitely released it from his hands before he left the area. Terrible decision!!!

Oh and Villa are going to beat Chelsea 2-1:D:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Just saw it on the replay there (missed the first 30 mins) what a disgraceful decision, he was looking right at it. I've seen a few keepers that did actually cross the line before throwing it up for the kick and it doesnt get given, it's like one of those ignoreable laws.

On another note, there seems to be a distinct lack of interest for the commentators on sky. Twice Liverpool have had good chances in the Bolton box and the lads just carry on their chit chat.

Diving git Anelka. Glad when nothing comes of a free from a dive.

Diouf showing what an upstanding player he is........... Break his legs Momo

Gary Speed, what a legend. His 750th appearance today, and has scored in every season of the Premiership. Great way to cap it.

1 nil at half time,i`ve a feeling there could be fireworks in the second half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

What a horrible side Bolton are. Bunch of diving fowling thugs. That decison which lead the goal is one of the worst I have seen this season, next time you watch it, take a look at the linesman, hes not even in line with the edge of the box. Terrible terrible decision.

Why do people have to resort to calling players thugs and wishing someone breaks their legs etc!

Surely people can be passionate about their team without this sort of crap?

will kuyt come back out? would like to see crouch...

I never said I wanted anyone to break their leg. Kuyt has 8 staples in his head which is gushing blood. They are diving at every opportunity and are only ahead because of an absolutely dreadful linesman decision. Hard not to be frustrated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,342 ✭✭✭Ardent

Getting sick of the shocking standard of refereeing in this league. There should be a league for referees and linesman too, where muppets like that linesman pay for their incompetency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Good post by someone on another forum.
I just don't get it -- we are in the new millenium and we are still just using 3 pairs of human eyes to keep track of 22 guys and 1 ball. If you don't want to have technology to help the refs like NBA and NFL then it is fine, but in that case you will need plenty of refs to keep track of the lines, etc, like volleyball or tennis.

Just leaving so much rooms for dodgy refs and corrupted refs -- we are giving them too much excuses.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Kuyt off Crouch on.

Pool look weak from crosses again, Campo makes it two nil.

Tusky I never said you made the break the leg comment it was another poster.

Why do commentators always go on about crouch when liverpool get a corner. Has it completely escaped their collective notice that he's attrocious in the air?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Pennant off Luis Garcia on which is a good move.

Here we go, a ready made match winner.

Why wait so long to get Gerrard out of a ridiculous left wing position (if thats what he's doing).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Right Bellamy is crap, and thats the official line I'm taking. He did nothing with that ball. As soon as he started his little touch in front of himself shimmy, I stopped expecting a goal. I could have got a better shot off sitting here in my chair. He spends most of his time letting players get close to him, flinging himself on the ground and whinging at refs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,544 ✭✭✭redspider

Bad day at the office for Liverpool, 2-0 down away to Bolton, about 15 mins left.

The first goal, came for a free kick. Controversially given against Reina. It was not an obvious violation so I think the Ref's panel will have a look at it. But that cant change the decision. What was more dissapointing for Liverpool was that Reina made a very poor attempt at saving the free-kick.

Liverpool were creating the most chances. They had hit the post earlier from Alonso. The set-up seemed to be better than in mid-week, less risky anyway, especially on the left hand-side, with Gerrard there and Riise and of course Sissoko back in the centre.

The 2nd goal was a valid one, over the line by at least a foot and maybe 2. A header from Campo but he should have been marked better. Not sure if Reina could be blamed for it but the header was from close range although central.

Liverpool are trying but I dont think the have the mental resolve to fight back, so this is looking like a loss.

    11 mins left now ....

does anyone notice kuyt and bellamy are consistently getting in each others way, they make the same runs the whole time.

also rotation policy is not working look at riise - i have never seen him so shakey, also what do the strikers need to do to get a consistent run in the team and what must gonzalez be thinking - not even on the bench today. the rotation system is doing nothing for our consistency and confidence.

and why change from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 and back it just seems so unorganised compared to last season and bellamy is not a left winger we have 2 of them why not use them.
