Basically I just bought a new mobo (DFI Lanparty), new CPU (Athlon 64 4000+), new gfx card (BFG Geforce 7950GT OC 512Mb GDDR3) and I currently have a 380w PSU with 16A max on the 12v rail. Apparently the 7950GT needs 22A+ on the 12v rail to work...(hense why at the moment it seems to boot by "no signal input" is displayed). Please can someone link me to the cheapest option that will run this setup with no probs from the following site (www.overclockers.co.uk) asap. :P

    Thanks guys

I can't find a psu that gives more than 18A on the 12v rail, even any 700w. I'd say you'd be ok with this 1, 2nd down: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Seasonic_Power_Supplies.html

An Antec TruePower 480Watt or 550watt would be perfect for your needs. A 550w might be a bit more future proof though.

I would reccomend something like a 700w+ psu if you want to future proof the pc. There are 1000w psus out there if you want

Hmmmm, not got a lot of cash, just spent £550 and im on a £5 an hour part time job (still at college) so future proof aint a massive consern...use right now and suffer later seems the more viable option ^^

600w ish should be ok, links to cheapish ones you know of you be much appreiciated.

1000W is overkill if you're computer is only going to be drawing 300watts. If you buy a PSU that's too large for your needs you'll end up wasting a lot of power due to the inefficiences of running the PSU below it's "ideal" draw. Generally a PSU works best at ~70% load. That's it's peak efficiency (thats a rough figure based off 2 PSU models).

So you want to buy a PSU with enough wattage that you'll be drawing roughly 70% of it's rated capacity. If you need 350 watt, then buy a 480 watt. If you want to be running the next gen of GFX which will use a bit more power than existing cards, get a good 550watt, such as the antec one i showed.

The High Efficieny 500watt antec is ~£68 and the regular TruePower 550watt is about £75.
