Well, I say! Should be a laugh :)

Senator David Norris to open Harbour Victorian Day

The Greystones Harbour Residents Association would like to invite everyone to the harbour on Sunday 29th October for a family fun day. We are calling the event our "Victorian Day" and we encourage everyone to come in costume, Halloween or Victorian.

The festivities will start at 2pm and continue until 4pm. For the children there will be face-painting, balloon-modelling, music and lots more, all free of charge. There will be a free lucky-dip for all children who turn up in costume. We will have a speakers corner, the high-light of which will be former Greystones resident, Senator David Norris.Senator Norris will also honour us by opening the festival. We are delighted to welcome Senator Norris back to Greystones who will lead the speakers corner of light-hearted topics, some comic and all unique.

The idea of a Victorian Day came about to high-light the architectural heritage we have here in Greystones. The harbour is full of listed buildings and we are calling for it to be given the designation of an architectural conservation area. The harbour area has also a rich association with the arts and has featured in many paintings and literary works, including those of Samuel Beckett ( a former harbour resident).

For further information, contact Rory Fallon 086 2539867 or Evelyn Cawley 087 6483191.

Just a Reminder, this is on Sunday.

(Not the greatest idea to lump all notices under one thread "Upcoming events" given this is one of the general ideas of the Charlesland forum i.e. to provide information!)
