    Hi Des,

Realistically we won't have a place for you in the midweek leagues this season.

We are starting a Sunday evening 11 a side, details attached.

Let us know if you are interested in that.

    Regards,
    ....
    Astro Soccer League

2006/07 Dublin Winter Sunday 11 a side League

    Starting November 5th 2006.
Teams consist of 11 players with 6 subs allowed.
Subs may come on and off at any stage, subject to certain restrictions.
Divisions consist of 8 teams with each team playing the others twice per season.

Relegation and promotion applies to all divisions. (3 up, 3 down)
All games are refereed by qualified referees.
All games are one hour in duration.
All games are played on synthetic pitches at the venues specified below.

Games are played, Sunday evenings from 17:00pm - 21:00pm.

All results, fixtures, tables, reports etc... are held on our web site (http://www.astro.ie).
There are great prizes at the end of each season.

    - Euro 250.00 Referees fees

Fees must be paid before the league begins.

Teams are expected to supply their own kit and footballs.
Teams are required to enter their own results and scorers on our website after each game.
There is a, cheap, optional insurance scheme of which teams can avail.
Contact Graham Pasley of O'Driscoll O'Neil on 01-6395857 for details

    Venues:
    St. Colmcilles, Knocklyon
    St.Judes, Templeogue.
Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club, Rathfarnham.

OK so, this would seem to be a decent option, would you all agree?

It starts in November, which is a short wait, we could probably get a decent amount of pre-season friendlies in before it starts, and with the last seven or eight weeks behind us I think it will leave us in good stead for the start of that season.

It means playing Sundays though, but I think it's the only chance we'll get to be in the Astro League any time soon, and in fairness, there are only so many friendlies you can play.

    I have registered for it.

    Hi Des,

There will definitely be space, the only issue will be whether we get sufficient teams.

    We will keep you informed.

    Regards,

looks good to me, would suit me better than weeknight league anyway.
We'd have a good months worth of friendlies behind us so should be ready to hit the ground running

If any player wants out, that's no problem at all, I can refund the money paid.

But let's wait and see if it goes ahead first shall we?

Seems the best option we have. Everyone seems on for Sunday so maybe after the session we can have a chat amongst ourselves and see for definite who's in and who's not.

I can't commit to Sunday evenings. Sorry,

Brian's (MrJones) mate Cathal is interested in getting involved and can now play for us cos its on sundays (he heads off to athlone for work on Monday mornings and then comes back to Dublin at the weekend.

He's the thin lanky strip of a mickey dazzler who did a good job marking me in the last training session in phoenix park and I think he'd be a good addition to the squad as a defender, so I'll tell him to come along and have a chat with Des tomorrow, and then they can sort it out between them.
