My girlfriend's brother has 600-700 Euro max to spend on a new PC.

He is not looking for the super-duper-est computer that ever lived.

He just wants something that will allow him to play all of the current games out and hopefully most of the ones that come out in the next 2 years. So basically something that is 2 year proof, just good enough to play games at an ok level too, not something that can run 10million-gazillion pixels per nano-second and allow to frag a ten year old Vietnamese geek at the top of his game!!!

He saw this on ebay for £390 and was wondering if it is any good. It defo needs a decent graphics card and an operating system but I'm unsure if that will push him over his budget

    Processor AMD AM2 X2 Dual Core 64 4200+ Socket AM2
    Mother Board Asrock
    Memory 1024MB (1GB) PC533 533MHz DDR2 Ram
Hard Disk Drive 200GB SATA2 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive
Graphics NVIDIA Geforce 6100 Up To 256MB Shared Memory (Integrated)
Sound Card 7.1Channel High Defination Digital Audio onboard (Integrated)
CD/DVD DVDRW 16X Dual Layer DVDRW +/- (Also can write CD's)
Case 450W ATX Midi Tower Case (very Stylish and Gamer case)
    Modem Optional

    Any advice really appreciated.

Not bad for that budget, but would def need a gpu for games. I'd recommend this: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=318798 Best value for money gpu out there at mo.

I don't mean to advertise, but keep an eye on the Dell outlet store on ebay.ie

    http://stores.ebay.ie/Dell-Outlet

I dislike Dell as much as the next person, but last week I picked up this:

Processor: Dimension 9150 Viiv PD 940 processor Dual Core (3.2GHz)
    DVD Drive: 16 X DVD +/- RW
Hard Disk Drive: 250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
    Additional 250GB (7200rpm) SATAII Hard D
    Dell Quietkey Black Keyboard
    Doc Dimension 9150 ENG/UK Cord
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme music card
Mouse Dell Wheel USB 2 Button Scroll Black
    2048MB DDR2 533 [2*1024]
    V.92 Modem Data/Fax/Voice PCI UK
    Image Restore Utility
    English - Adobe Reader 6.0
    Microsoft Works 7.0 - UK
512MB nVidia GeForce 7900GTX graphics card
Genuine Win XP Media Center 2005

...for under €800, which was a steal considering the GPU alone goes for €450.

So if you want a budget gaming PC, keep an eye on the ones that have mid-range GPUs.

P.S. this might interest you if you're quick: http://cgi.ebay.ie/DELL-PC-Desktop-Dimension-XPS-600-1JK762J_W0QQitemZ270034234481QQihZ017QQcategoryZ179QQcmdZViewItem

    Good luck.
