    www.ebay.com
(specific laptop section is in the link below)
    http://computers.listings.ebay.com/Laptops_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ51148QQsocmdZListingItemList

As long as you buy off someone with >99% positive feedback, you should have no problems. This is often the cheapest place for laptops.

be careful buying pc's and laptops on ebay.

Choose Powerseller with fanny loads of feedback and a rating of over 98.5 percent. Check if there titanium etc.

Legally make sure the OS on the system is the OEM. Some seller try to pretent to be on the level by saying its installed for test and evaluation pruposes.

The Copyright 'police' are in overload lately

U saw what happened Irish Kazaa Users!!! download 1 mp3 ...all settled out of court by the way. Microsoft have the hotline number. So be careful. There are people out there reported people for cash.

Have heard mixed reports, some say they're reliable, some say the drivers/hardware are all over the place, but the prices are very low indeed...

i've been looking at www.gericom.de a lot lately.
They're not a brand name, but specs match some of dells top of the range, while costing a hell of a lot less (incl VAT).
Don't know about their shipping costs though & customer service responses are very slow.

Was looking for a battery for my Acer Aspire 1300 laptop and came across this site:-

    Computer Batteries

The prices are reasonable but what attracted me was that they offer free shipping to Europe. Other sites were cheaper for the actual battery but their shipping charges were ridiculous.

The battery I was after was £92.83 BTW.

I bought an 80gbHD, AMD (pentium 4), 1gb mem TARGA laptop from LIDL yesterday and it is the dogs. At least 500 Euro than a similar spec'ed laptop from Dell (include TV/Radio tuning/recording facility , wireless card, modem and DVD +/- RW burner.

    Plus software...

I know LIDL run out quickly but this really is a good machine. Get them while they last.

The HP outlet only seem to ship to the UK Mainland, but a its handy site if you know and trust someone!

"HP Marketplace can only ship auction products to mainland Great Britain (this excludes Channel Islands, Scottish Isles, Isle Of Man and Northern Ireland). We do not deliver to P.O. Boxes or B.F.P.O. addresses."

Good value Toshiba, Acer, IBM, Sony and Fujitsu Siemens from www.laptopsdirect.co.uk. They ship to Ireland and will do VAT free if you call them with an Irish VAT number

    Backoffice Europe

    http://www.backoffice.be/

Prices seem reasonable. And they do the EU VAT exempt thing if you're registered.

Has anyone here ever heard of them or used them?

In light of the amount of requests for laptop repairs, I'm making a sticky for this very purpose.

Marx Computers do laptop repair and if it is anything like the rest of the shop, it should be spot on. I believe they check the problem out for you before they give you the price of the repair.

For a Toshiba Authorised repair centre try the following

    Business & Scientific Services LTD,
    Unit F6,
    Oak Road,
    Clondalkin,
    Dublin 12.

    Repairs@bss-ltd.ie

They also do service and support for a large range of products.

    V.Good service in my opinion.
