Hi there My frined signed up for Talk Talk internet package along with his line rental and calls

But now he cant send e-mail as Talk Talk dont have any mail servers. ie pop.talktalk.ie or smtp.talktalk.ie

Has anyone come across this problem, it makes no sence that they havent got incoming and outgoing mail servers??

They didn't offer a @talktalk.net address to you?
    mail.talktalk.net
smtp.talktalk.net are mentioned on the uk web site.

If they don't block pop and smtp access to other services, why not use another provider.

    E.g yahoo or googlemail

eircom used to allow access to their SMTP servers from other Irish ISPs. You might want to see if you can send mail through mail1.eircom.net.

Had the same problem. Turns out that talktalk broadbaand is just rebranded BT internet ... or something like that. Anyway if you us mail.iol.ie (BT's smtp server) as your smtp server the mail will send.

    Worked for me anyway:)

Jayyyysssuusss right I've been drinking but why do people like bring up threads from 2 years ago and longer in other cases?

Fair enough if you've got useful information, but when the OP has had their question answered etc there isn't any need to drag up the thread again.
