Ram not working

My ram which is ddr2 800mhz ram is not working but i have another stick of 256mb which is, the board which is asus supports it, would a bios update fix this?

Which Asus mobo? Some can be fixed by a bios flash, not sure which ones. There are a few threads here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115765
