i still play. it's the best!!
i figured out an unbeatable formation. it goes:

    gk
    ---cb----cb----cb----
    dmc
    ---mr----mc----ml----
    amc----amc

    fc

for the dmc postion it's best to have someone that can play either cetral defence of defensive midfield (d/dmc)

mr: have an amr; mc have a dmc; ml have an aml
amc (right side): have someone who play am/frc
amc (left side): have someone who plays am/flc
fc: lone striker. needs to be a good finisher but also a good team player.

    have both amc's running forward
tactics: pressing; offside-trap; attacking; short passing.

this formation works all the time. i used it to take preston out of non-league football (they got relegated after a few years and i wanted a challenge) and in 7 seasons i had won every trophy available... for an english team to win.
