Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Windows Setup

    Hi Guys,

Im in the process of moving from my current PC setup to a new PC and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion for snapshot or backup software? I have used Ghost and Partimage (which I found a lil awkward coz Im a linux n00b) but both of these take ages to create a backup.

Ive lots of apps to setup and settings to modify and customise the setup to the way Im used to working with. Last time this took me nearly 8 hours to do it all and its not possible to do it all in one stretch plus I typically end up missing a few things. I would like to be able to install an application or modify the settings for something and back these up in a few mins then after maybe an hour or two's work do a full backup and continue that way. Any suggestions?

    Dave

partimage is WAY faster if you turn off compression - the you are limited by bandwidth on network or external or internal drive

start - programs - accessories - system tools - Files and Settings Transfer Wizard

you would probably still have to install all your programs again.

tip - empty the my documents folder - so it creates smaller transfer files, you can copy across my documents etc. later on

Anyone remember where the XP setup list was - some guy ranting about the 101 steps to setup XP ( untick hide extensions etc.) - thing about that was most of them were steps most techies would do. Handy list.
