Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So there are stories about Alonso saying some renault people don't want him to win cos they don't want a Mclaren car having number 1 on it next year. If/When schumi wins what happens the number 1. Is there no Number 1 on a car next season?

I think the numbering rules were changed recently, but as far as I know there'll be no number 1 but instead a 0 on the lead Ferrari... Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Thats what happened with Hill in 94 when Prost retired after winning the championship in 93.

The regulations are vague on this matter but one would expect the 0/2 numbers to follow the WCC. Assuming Alonso doesn't win the WDC.

Hill had 0 in 1994 cos prost took the number to retirement. It doesnt happen often, and Senna refused to have the number 0 on his car. Ordinarilt Prost would have brought number 1 to another team, but cos he retired, Williams got to keep them, and ran 0 and 2 that year.

The number 1 follows the winner of the WDC, regardless of what team he drives for next year.
