Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am considering getting a Media Centre laptop. However the spec doesn't say anything about having a tv tuner. How does media centre work?

A laptop is probably not going to have a TV tuner. I'm sure there are a few out there that do, but based purely on the odds, chances are that the one you're looking at doesn't. However, it's shockingly easy to add a tuner that connects via USB.

Media center is very fussy about which tuners it wants. I have a dedicated media center pc. It's brilll for tv recording. the only really useful thing i can think of for a laptop is pausing live TV.

Yeah ...see I agree with the above , I dont see the need for MCE on a laptop , all its main features are useless on a laptop ,

TV recording etc , large fonts and album view , picture view etc are meant for a Large TV , not a laptop !!

Still , might do for a small bedsit type place I suppose , but the best TV tuners as far as I know , only come in PCI card format !!

some of the new hp laptops lnclude tv tuners bout i think they would be digital only to get dnalogue youd need something like http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Hauppauge_Special_Edition_USB_2.0_TV_Tuner_1140/version.asp

I have MCE on my laptop for integration with my xbox 360 and projector.

Can't see why anyone would rule it out... why would you want a big, chunky, noisy PC with media centre? o_O

I don't use a TV tuner card, but the last one I saw was a PCMCIA one being sold with a laptop in Lidl.
