    Three members of an eastern European fraud gang have been jailed for four years by Wicklow Circuit Court having been caught skimming ATM cards and stealing from ATM machines.

    The three Romanians, two men and a woman who are all in their 20s, were arrested at a house in Bray last year.
    Detectives also found false ATM fronts, skimming machines, cameras, 75 blank plastic ATM cards and €20,000 in cash.
    Judge Pat McCartan said this was a mean, nasty but sophisticated fraud and he congratulated the Fraud Squad on its good work.

    The three, Sorin Condrache, Rzvan Schiopu and Daniela Ciocan had only arrived in Ireland a few months before they were caught.
    They were one of five eastern European gangs involved in ATM fraud which last year cost banks over €4 million.
    The number of cases of fraud are down 65% in the first six months of this year.
