How long before a line test?

I got a phoneline installed last Thursday after waiting since July for eircom to fix up the lines in my new estate, my question is though, how long do you generally have to wait to see if the line passes or not? Its status at the moment is unknown. I've waited long enough now...I want my broadband back :(

I have variously heard that the line test sweep for a given exchange is every 3 weeks or 4 weeks or 3 TIMES a year (4 months) .

It used to be 4 weeks max until early this year, now I am not sure. 1800503303 are there today to winback smart punters, so ring them and ask.
