Has anyone used a specialist dog food, I think it is called Hills and is only available from vets. I've been told it minimizes dog waste as you don't have to feed as much as a small amount provides all of the required nutrition. It's very expensive-about €60 per large bag. Has anyone used this or similar and if so, with what results? Does it really minimize waste as at present my two dogs "go" about three times a day each.

Vets recommend Hills for everything because they stand to make a lot from it.

I feed mine on Royal Canin and find it excellent in the 'waste' department, it's about the same price as hills though.

Burns is good and economical if measured correctly it's about 50 euro for the largest bag and it lasts a long time.
If you break it down by week it can cost you as little as 10 euro a week to feed 2 dogs, sometimes we don't notice how much we are paying for dog food if you buy in the supermarket with your grocery shopping but it is cheaper. However even on Burns they may go more than once a day, mine get Burns and they go twice a day which is normal and healthy they could even go three times but I'd say it's more like two..hard to know when they are running around the long grass. The poop is more firm and no stinky wind if you feed something like Burns.

James Wellbeloved is excellent as well. Really shiny coats and as there are no fillers in it there isn't as much waste...and it tends to be a bit harder so easier to pick up! (may be a little more info than you needed!!!) Of course, you have to remember that it's all very well feeding any of these recommended foods to your dogs.....but if he/she is getting extra from the table, bins...anywhere else - kinda negates the easy to pick up, not so much waste issue:)

I second this. I feed my two dogs on this and I would never change from it.
