Major problem 2.5MB Broadband reduced to 500kb

    Hi.

    I just got broadband after waiting two years.
    I am getting speeds of 500kb or lower.
    i tried a freinds laptop and i got what i should be getting - 2.5MB.
    Its wireless internet. There is no router. Just one cable that goes straight into an ethernet slot. We plugged it in straight to the laptop. No routers involved.
    I've tried with firewall and without.

    I tried 2 different network cards, no difference.
    I found spyware, i reinstalled windows completely, no difference.
    Doesnt sound like much but iam about to jump off a bridge if i dont get somewhere.

    Whats up?



    Also the pc is a shuttle.

    I'd contact your isp. Looks as if somehow your upload & download speeds are the other way round, if you get what i mean. Login 2 that link and run it 10 times at different times to get an average, it'll give you some info to give to your isp, can paste it to an email.
