The Eircom customers in Roscrea have their speeds back to normal. I'm with UTV and am still basically receiving dial up speeds. UTV tell me to just wait it out..it all depends on Eircom. Fabien, is your BT connection still slow?

As of last night 10pm BT BB connection is still dog slow...haven't tried today but not too hopefull...

Mine is still at crawling speed. Cork city centre.

I have just spoken to a very helpful Support person with BT and he says that the problem with the Churchfield Exchange was flagged to Eircom by them last Monday and that as far as he knew the problem had not yet been determined let alone fixed.

I am a business situated in Cork City Centre and have had crawling speeds all week long.

Many thanks to all the contributors who have kept people like me informed on this score, as it has taken me all week to get in touch with BT support.

Still woeful here in Crosshaven....this is incredible...with ANY other utility service (gas, ESB....jayzus....even the phone) there would be some sort of customer communication and continuous updating of same. I have not seen any yet I get the impression that this is a major fault affecting a large area....I am astounded....but I know I shouldn't be.

Those addresses belong to UTV - it's not an eircom problem at that stage.

This is what I thought too, initially.

But when you look at a correct traceroute (which because of the problems, I can't generate at the moment to show you), there are no Eircom owned addresses in the route - it goes straight from my router to a UTV owned IP.

This leads me to believe that this is still Eircom managed equipment at the exchange, just with UTV addresses.

I assume its the same for BT, etc. customers....anyone want to post the output of "tracert www.boards.ie" from a command prompt?

    Hi Guys,

I thought all was well yesterday also BUT found my uploads [ website stuff ] were down to 1kb. Using an FTP app last night to update a CMS on line - 1.48mb of stuff - took 3/4 of an hour with many timeouts/retrys by the FTP app. I cannot trust this, as data may have got corrupted.

Also when I recieve attachments via email [ 610k for example ] it takes an age to come down, way longer than it should.

So before jumping around in joy go here -

    http://www.irishisptest.com/runmyspeed.php

and check your upload / download speeds. And as I said before run pingplotter and watch for dropped packets. If all this is hunky dory then maybe your out of the woods,

    Cheers
    Aidan
