Landlords get warning notices over registration failure

Warning notices have reportedly been sent to more than 3,000 landlords around the country over their failure to officially register their properties.
Reports this morning say the notices have been sent to some of the estimated 35,000 landlords who have failed to register rented dwellings with the Private Residential Tenancies Board.

The board has imposed a number of deadlines for landlords to meet their legal obligation, but this morning's reports say it has yet to prosecute a single landlord for failing to do so.

Under the law, landlords who fail to register properties can be fined up to €3,000 or jailed for up to six months.

I found out in the last week that the €70 is well worth it to pay, because you don't want to get into a nasty situation with your tenant and not have the PRTB on your side
