I used to read zzap64, crash and amstrad action during the 80's. Looking back, they were quite racist towards the Irish, especially in the letters pages. Plenty of digs about the stupid Irish. Games Tm is decent, good mix of retro and new stuff.

You should give NGamer a try. It's single format, but miraculously has a sense of perspective, honest reviews* (including tonnes of import DS stuff) and even a two-page spread about what's happening of note on other formats. And it's got almost all of the decent UK games journos, with a refreshing passion and sense of fun. It's fairly expensive and the DVD is soulless and pointless, though.

*Honest, but occassionally WRONG. Rhythm Tengoku short; my hole.
That's the new one out, yes? I saw that but the cover(it was in a bag, but you know what I mean) didn't give me much hope in the 'aimed at over-12s' field. I might pick it up if it's as good as you say though. And I suppose Super Play managed both a childish(albeit then-sophisticated anime-ish) look and intelligent, enjoyable writing, so this might be worth a shot. Cheers.

I bought N-Gamer once for a Metroid Prime video they advertised. I have to sday it was a decent mag. It actually genuinely seemed like the writers enjoyed themselves and this lent an air of fun to the mag that is sorely missing in almost every other mag nowadays. The only problem is that it isn't multiformat.

As Edge was delayed I found myself buying GamesMaster for something to read, dear god, no wonder the average games buying teen is a complete moron, it was rubbish, honestly a better use of paper would be to stick it on a nail in the jacks, reminded me of all the mags I used to buy back in the 90's, any games mag with ads for Ringtones and softporn wallpaper should be shunned.
