Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any ideas for cheap wedding dress/veil for someone having chemo?

This is a tough one - am finally marrying the love of my life in late December. It will be in a church but there will be at best 6 people apart from ourselves at it. The thing is, I have cancer and should have lost my hair by then due to chemo. I do not want the big wedding, this is just the two of us, so will not be spending lots of money on the dress. I will not have much time to search for a dress either as I will be very sick with the chemo for the next 2+ months. Does anyone have any ideas for the dress and for the headgown?

Do not want to change the date as I need a highlight at this difficult time.

Mods - please feel free to move this if appropriate. Am not sure if it should be in the wedding forum or not, am not looking for a typical dress though.

    Hi Cathy

Glad to hear you are finally getting married, may I suggest that you join us over on www.weddingsonline.ie the girls over there always come up with brill ideas.

As for cheap wedding gear and head dresses I believe Oxfam is great and a proper wedding dress can be bought for about €50.00.

For head dresses check out www.ebay.com, they have veils etc of all different styles very reasonable.

also Cathy would your Mam's wedding dress be an option??

    Hi Cathy,

Oxfam have a specialist wedding shop upstairs in their Georges Street branch. The range is fantastic and they have racks of dresses, veils, tiaras, shoes, bags etc. My sister-in-law bought her dress here and it was truely spectacular - and if you're feeling cheeky you can even bargain them down.

Try to get in early on a Saturday and if it's not open ask for them to open it. They can also keep an eye out for something in particular if you want it.

**Also, you can donate the dress back to the shop when you're finished.
