Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    UBUNTU NO GUI NO MORE ?

    While trying to sort a sound card problem I kinda removed gnome, as you do. :o

    into ye olde recovery and startx starts but mouse, like loads of failed attempts at linux in the past.
    so a little aptitude install ubuntu-desktop and have GUI again :)

    anyway to the cycle of
    apt-get --purge remove linux-sound-base
    apt-get --purge remove alsa-base
    apt-get --purge remove alsa-utils

    have unticked ESD in System / Preferences / Sound
    still no default sound card :(

    lspci

    Hmm where are you seeing the lack of a default sound card? Is there a /dev/audio ? I have had problems with AC97 before but never in ubuntu oddly enough.

    no sound in gnome apps
    but aalsamixer seems to see it
