Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

if so what is the quality of service like and play over xbox live , lag etc...

i have eircom broadband home starter plus 2 meg / 128 k ( yes 128k not 256 k as they made a balls of my upgrade ) and got a call last night from ntl to say my area is now able to get the broadband so i was looking at trying out the 6 meg package for the first 3 months for free.

    any feedback welcome .

thanks for that Clank thats great , i'll get it so and if it holds up i'll get rid of the other broadband .

I've the same as Clank, previously had the eircom 2mb package

For me NTL is better, noticeably zippier

meh, i would say 2 months ago all was fine with NTL. then they were taken over by UPC/Chorus with a noticeable degradation in their broadband service particularly with ping times since they route most of their traffic through Amsterdam now (UPC are a Dutch co me thinks!) - be wary

I've the 6mb package and its plenty fast for live. Get really low latency of about 50ms when playing world of warcraft. Well worth it for €40 a month. Contention ratio is 17:1 as well which is lower than eircom

thanks for the feedback lads , i'm going to give it a try and have an install date of the 23/10/2006.

On the 6meg+ myself and while there has been a drop in the stability of the pings it is still pretty good.

just got this installed today and so far so good apart from one problem ; no matter what i do i always have a strict nat :(

i was supplied with a motorola SB5101E modem and a netgear WGR614 V6 wireless router , now it was no trouble setting everything up and getting the pc , laptop and xbox 360 all set up but i'v tried all i can think of to solve the strict nat on the 360.

i have opened the ports for live , put the 360's ip# in the dmz on the netgear router and even upgraded it's firmware but no joy.

i then turned my eyes to the motorola modem but when i look at it's settings and through the pdf , there is no mention of a firewall at all in the modem .

any ideas on what it could be ?

    thanks in advance.

at last i got it :D

in the end the 360 had to be set to automatically get it's ip and dns from the router even though the settings on manual where the same .

Sorry for raising this thread from the dead, but I'm moving into my new house in the new week or so, and considering getting one of the new UPC packages.
I've heard they route everything through Amsterdam and then New York, even to just get to the UK, so I'd be wary what their pings would be like for gaming?
Anyone using either the new 10mb or 20mb connections on Live?

weve got the tv and broadband deal, 55€ a month, but its cheaper for a while for new customers!
