    Good sides

You get a better history of the car with the auction report(which you rarely see with Irish dealers for mostly dodgy reasons).
You may get a few grand off depending on the car.
    More choice.

    Bad sides

It can be complicated and time consuming(VRT, VAT and waiting for both the right car and waiting for it to show up).
You can easily be outbid for the car you want(the auctions happen very fast)
You can't "kick the tyres" and actually see the car itself.
You have to do the timing belts, service yourself(that can be a good thing too).

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
