Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TCP UDP or Both?

Hi, I set up a wireless dlink router with NTL cable broadband last week, it seemed to work fine for a few days then it started to act funny.

Seems to be having a conflict when more the one user is logged on to the network wirelessly?

I'm not quite sure though as it works fine while browsing the net, seems to run into trouble when applications such as msn messenger are opened and when playing games online.

There's a setting within the router that I'm not sure about.

By default it's set to use TCP but there's two drop down menus that allow you to choose udp or both, which one should it be on?

Sorry about the sketchy details as I'm writing this away from the house that the ntl is set up on.

    Moved to wireless.

What's the option marked as, LunaC?

    It's under Protocol Type.

Someone is trying to set up port forwarding, but seems to be reluctant to mention the fact in public.

I'm trying to get online games and msn working if that's called port forwarding then that's what i'm trying to do.

I'm not reluctant to mention anything I wasn't aware that that's what I had to do.

Do I have to enable porting forwarding on the routher to get these applications to work?

Though it would of just allowed me to use them?

No. MSN should work "out of the box".

The only time you'll encounter questions about TCP/UDP is if you're trying to set up port forwarding (Virtual server or "Special Application"). The "words" TCP/UDP only occur in that part of your routers interface.

Thanks for the reply, I've solved the msn problem.

I set up GTA2 to play online with a program called GameHunter, I had to disable windows firewall aswell as zone alaram I then had to "open ports" to be able to connect to game servers, it works sometimes that's what's weird about it.

Other times it trys and connects doesn't connect and then I can't accsess the internet until i turn my router off and back on.

    :S
