Buying a Digital Camera

I don't want a real fancy one. Just a reliable, small and light one. It must be good quality obviously but nothing tremendously expensive.

What is good? What do I look for? What what what?

I'm not looking for recommendations necessarily, just ideas what to look for in a camera as I will prolly end up buying 2nd hand off ebay or something.

I need it for when I go to America.

wait until u get 2 the States before u buy...then get something with at least 5m pixels and rechargeable batteries, stick to the good names eg Fuji, Canon, Pentax and make sure adapter will suit all countries and u can switch plugs for when u get back home. Also get additional memory card of up to 1GB so's you can indulge in the odd bit of video and great resolution pics when it really counts

I have never purchased from Pixmania but numerous people have posted on Boards regarding how poor they are. However, I have purchased from Technik Direkt and found them to be very cheap and reliable.
