Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

WRT54G WiFi Speed Problem

    Hi all,

I was hoping some one can shed some light on my current problem with my Linksys Wireless router (WRT54G). When I connect my computer directly to the DSL modem I get DL speeds of around 5.90MB/s (thank you SMART!), but when I run the connection through my wireless router the DL speed decreases to 3.02 MB/s. Has anyone encountered this before or might know what is causing this?

    Cheers...

I presume that speed is on a wireless connection? If you connect your computer by wire to the Linksys, what is your throughput?

The connection speed is fine when connected to the Linksys by wire.... It's just the wireless speed that is affected...is that normal? Sorry, I'm clueless about this stuff...

There are no guarantees with wireless connections. A 3MB/s connection is actually a 24Mb/s connection (bits and Bytes) Which woud actually be considered good on a wireless connection (54Mb/s on paper, but never reaching that in real life).

But given that your DSL connection is only 6Mbps, I presume you mean 3Mb/s rather than 3MB/s. And 3Mb/s wouldn't be great.

Is your wireless client an 802.11b or 802.11g client? Have you tried to copy a file on the LAN between a wired computer and a wireless computer, to see if the you get faster speeds on the LAN than you do to the Internet? Do you have the latest drivers and firmware on the PC and the router?
