Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,
I sure hope there is some phpBB guru here that can help!

I got a hold of some idiot books for phpBB. They go through the whole "get Apache, then php, then MySQL, then phpMyAdmin" and so on.

Trouble is, I am at the first stumbling block - trying to get Apache on my machine, to act locally! I don't know what the hell I am doing, and the Apache Windows help is not clear to me at all! I am a noob at this stuff, and was under the impression that to run phpBB boards using this stuff, anyone can do it!

Any guidelines, tips, links, or even Skype sessions, to help me at all please?

    Many thanks,

    Seanie.

    WAMP it.
Exactly. I assume that you just want to set up a kind of a tinkering about setup, as opposed to a fully live board? If so xampp is probably the simplest solution available. More info can be found here: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

I have just installed WAMP5 (much clearer than XAMP), but I am not that much further ahead.

For example, what do I input for "localhost" during the installation? It is this that gets me at the moment, as when I start any of the services, they load in my web bowser with the location "http://localhost/phpmyadmin", "http://localhost/sqllitemanager" and so on, but giving me failed loaded pages.

Have you tried using the IP address 127.0.0.1, which does the same thing?

Can't find where to change it to that. Even in the web browser, I change the location to "http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin" and it brings up nothing.

Does http://127.0.0.1/ bring up anything? Are the services running? Is a proxy set? What's the error?
