    Hi,
I have a cast iron fireplace that was originally painted gloss white, I want to paint it matt black. I bought a tin of hamerite high heat resistant paint to do the job. I roughly sanded the fireplace down, just to give it a key, and applied the paint, however the white gloss comes through every time, I have applied numerous coats but the same thing happens, even on area’s where the black paint has covered the white gloss underneath, if I reapply the black over it, it starts to streak. The tin says nothing about needing a primer. Any idea’s?
