I was just wondering is it legal in this country to poison pigeons?
Two blocks of my apartment complex is PLAGUED by them, they sit and cr*p all over peoples balconies and cars, there would be literally around 50-60 birds roosting on windowsils and balcony railings!

They're obviously irritating but they also spread disease, which is quite worrying. Rats of the skies :(

No, its not legal at all.

Also, many other animals and pets may be harmed or killed by ingesting the poison or the dead bird itself.
Which would also leave you open for legal action by the owner of said pet.

The correct proceedure is to get in touch with your local county council and insist they be removed or relocated.
If all who are being affected by this do the same action will be taken.

BTW, a dead pigeon will cause a LOT more disease than a live one.
(and a lot more smell too).

Why is it legal to poison rats and mice then? That makes no sense.
Our complex has high walls and gates, and pets are not allowed anyway.

As for relocating the pigeons...they'll just get replaced with other pigeons :-/

Because in this country, technically pigeons are not strictly considered "vermin" in the legal sense, as they could well be owned by some person (albiet irresponsible). Wheras wild mice and rats are considered vermin who are causing a problem by entering your actual home.
Of course, if these pigeons flew in your window, then fine by all means get rid of it. As long as it is outdoors (albiet your balcony or watever),Im afraid your only option is to call your local council.

And, the use if poisons in your home is completely different to the use of such chemicals outiside. Walled garden or not, a cat can into an amazingly secured area, not to mention other wild birds or foxes or tens of other speices that may even be protected species by law.
