my boyfriend is mad into shooting (handguns mostly) and i would love to bring him on a tour of a gun factory as a surprise.

does anything like this exist anywhere in europe?

    thanks a million.

Yes,plenty of gunmakers will do this.IF you are buying one[or alot of them] of their products,or having custom work done to one of your guns that needs to be done in the plant.Otherwise it isnt a common occurance.Best ring some manufactures and ask if they would be agreeable to giving a guided tour for you of their plant.Be prepared for a sales pitch as well at the end.

Always thought about these type of guns.Would you EVER use one of these in the really real world?Even at a snooty shoot?? Considering that is worth about half our average wage PA,could you see yourself out in the pouring rain, trudging across a mucky field and having to heave somthing like this thru barbed wire fences or thorn bushes.Even then if you never to it out of the Bank vault that you have had to instal to protect this investment.Would you ever sleep comfortably knowing the value of this and all the horrors of having it nicked?Even with insurance, you would not methinks have a quiet moment of non worry??Anyone shoot out of habit here a 10K plus shot gun or rifle .Like to know your f thoughts on this

thanks guys, i will check out Glock in Austria. By the time i got to call them, they were closed.

can members of the public go to that arms fair - is it not like a tradeshow which only trade/company buyers can attend?

    Hi Clare Gunner,

Are you sure it is still open to the public: according to their website, it doesn't seem to be:

Entrance tickets for IWA & OutdoorClassics are issued only to visitors from relevant supply trade firms, commercial users and specialist authorities. Proof of the right to admission must be provided first. Employees from specialist authorities require confirmation from their department.

Officially it's trade only. A letter from your friendly local gun dealer naming you as a "purchasing agent" or similar and a copy of of their licence works wonders.

    Clar Gunner/Civdef,
Can you try out the different types of guns at that show?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,057 ✭✭✭civdef

No, though on most stands you can pick them up, operate the actions etc - some truly terrifying gun-handling skills on display among many visitors.

I found it takes at least 2 days to see most of what's there, one day to skim through everything, and the second to visit selected stands for a better look.

Really appreciate all your help guys!
