    (Sorry posted similar thread before but really need help!)

    Hi All,

    I juts bought a '84 500SEC. Alls great except I have no dash lights(or gears) what so ever when the headlights are switched on.

    The seller replaced the radio and I was wondering if this may have something to do with it?

    The radio and it works fine but there is a green wire from the car that does not connect to anything in the radio and a black/ grey wire for the radio that is not matched. It has a label saying to connect to negetive from battery?

    There is a brown wire and a yellow/ green wire from the car that are not connected to anything. Also the cigarette lighter does not illuminate or operate?

    Any help much needed and appreciated,

    Have you tried twiddling the rheostat knob? (in the instrument cluster) They sometimes go a bit funny on those cars as they get older, mess with it and the lights may come back on. If this doesn't work and if you are in Dublin then you could call Hamiltons in Dublin 8, ph 01-4755157. They're a good & cheap auto electrician, I'm sure they'd sort it out in no time.
