    Um ....
These days Ryanair "employes" many of its staff through Crewlink rather than Ryanair, to which the staff are merely subcontracted.

Probably quite factual, all of which drives down the unit costs of putting my butt on a FR seat .

No IR problems,no unions to deal with-"Talk to your agency pal!" get them to sort it out.

Not saying for a minute that EI should go down that road, but it just demonstrates the gulf in cost base between the two airlines. To think EI can compete IN COSTagainst that, under the current scenario in that company is not on.

But do you accept the point that Ryanair might actually need say 70 people per aircraft and that they are paying the agency a percentage on top of the base cost of employing the staff?

Not quite sure of your point there Victor.

If i could put it this way. By using agency staff Ryanair avoid a lot of the periphoral stuff like IR issues, sick leave, absenteeism, general disciplinary day to day issues which arise in any big company. They just tell the agency ,we don't want person A or B, not up to our standard, and throw the matter back to the agency.

maybe they pay the agency a percentage over and above the base cost of employing the staff member,in fact probably they do,but this more than offsets the non productive hours wasted resolving petty disputes, which waste countless man hours in any big unionised company. With them its perform or get out.I'm sure you know of many unionised companies with shop stewards in operational areas who effectively are not part of the operational workforce , but are full time meeting attendees.

No way would that happen in FR,and thats one of the reasons their cost base is so low.
