Wall insulation

    I will be starting to build a new house early next year and have been presented with 3 options for isulating the walls:

    1. Block, 150mm cavity full filled, block

    2. Block, 100mm cavity, full filled , block with 50mm insulated plasterboard on the interior.

    3. Block, 100mm cavity, full filled, 300mm Quinn-Lite blocks on the inner leaf and plasterboard.

    Insulation will more than likely be ecobead platinum.

    Any advice on these options would be appreciated from a cost & insulation point of view.

    In option 3, is the plaster board going to be 50m insulation backed.
    And what is your thinking behind the 300mm inner leaf

    With each of these systems the major heatloss area is where the walls meet the floor.
    The heatloss is about 25% less for the same U-value when you use denser insulation than polysterene.
    Did you consider plastering directly onto external insulation like they do in most of Europe and Scandinavia?
