Bare root stock should be available for less than € 1 ea, ht approx 500-600mm.

On the otherhand, container grown 8/10 Girth (approx 2,500 - 3,000 mm H), expect to pay excess € 100 ea.

These are the real deal, I have been into their setup once a few yrs back and it is quite good. If I ever had a requirement for trees etc. I would go to them.

Best of luck, the leaves will stay on the hedge throughout the winter until, spring comes again.

Buy bare root hedging from a nursery like coillte http://www.coilltenurseries.ie
or www.derryleatrees.com but stay away from the garden centres as they get their cut too.

Alot of hedging will not be lifted from the ground for another month or two and then it is has to be graded by size. The best time is to sow in November so ordering now would be about right

Myself and girlfriend are just after planting a load of 3 foot tall bare root hornbeam.

Good soil preperation is vital to bare roots establishing and growing. Also regular watering, even in winter time and even when frosty is vital too.

    Regards.:)

Mid summer to late summer is the right time to prune it.
