Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

I bought a HP laptop several months ago in PCWorld. I find now that when I'm opening the lid that the lcd looses contrast -i.e. it is very bright but it is difficult to see what is on the screen. moving or touching the LCd surround makes it flicker and then it goes back to normal. Something is a little loose as once it is in position it goes back to normal. It's not a huge problem but I can see that it is getting gradually worse.

If I bring it back to PC world - how long will it likely be out of action? It might be better for me to bring it to a laptop repair shop to have it seen to.

If its under warranty ring 018781470 (PC Services) with ur receipt number & date of purchase. Courier out to collect next working day, off to HP or their internal repair centre, and couriered back. It depends on parts really, like any other repair centre. They may have the parts in stock, maybe not.

Sounds like a loose VGA wire.

Thanks - I don't fancy not having it around for some time so I'd hope it would be quick.

I'd betterk back up my stuff too - you never know!!!

    dear god back up.

if they get the slightest hint that your problem is any way software related they will just re-ghost your machine back to what it like when you bought it, meaning you'll lose everything.

sounds like a loose or faulty inverter or as said above it could be a loose vga ribbon.. if its under warrenty do as the lads said and either ghost the whole drive or back up on to removable media i.e. dvds or cdrws ....
let us know what happens and how long it takes and so on for others who may run into a simular problem
