Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well i did a poll out of the only people who could get it in my eyes and out of all of them Id want Henry to win it definitely but I think it could be a defenders turn with Cannavaro

Cannavaro, no one else comes close.

cannavaro without doubt. He produced a masterclass in the world cup.

it would be criminal should anyone else get it.

As an Arsenal fan I would love to see Henry win it but if the World Cup is used as the benchmark then Cannavaro should be the winner.

Henry shoulda won it 2 years ago, can't see him do it this year, would love it but i doubt it.

Henry would only get it because he's deserved to in the past, but people don't think like that so I'd say he'll miss out again. I'm sure Cannavaro will get it for his world cup performance.

Cannavaro definitely deserves it. He does his job fantastically at the highest level & on the biggest stages. Henry on the other hand may be able to make mincemeat of an average defence, but is a complete bottler when it comes to performing when it matters!

Id go with Cannavaro all the way. Ronnie seems to have lost interest a good while back while I don't think Henry did enough to merrit it. Ronaldo, Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard? Give me a break please. Cannavaro was imense for Juve last season and ran the show for Italy in the world cup.

Cannavaro is an absolute banker. These votes were done a month or 2 ago so the winner is already known. His odds have gone from about 3/1 to 5/4 in recent weeks. When that happens there's only 1 winner and 5/4 is still too good to refuse.

Cannavaro probably deserves it due to not getting the World Cup, but imo Eto deserves it.

Eto'o is my player of the year.
Cannavaro will get it because of his outsetanding part in Italys win.
Ayala was the best defender at the World Cup.

Either Eto'o or Kaká should get it.

I also think that he deserves it - Ronaldinho, while playing brilliantly for Barcelona, was very poor at the World Cup. This is the biggest stage in football and would be the deciding factor on who deserves the award.

    1. Cannavaro
    2. Ronaldinho
    3. Eto'o (maybe)

I would vote for Cannavaro simply for hsi performance in the world cup followed by Kaka, who i think is the best player in the world at the moment.

Ronaldinho last good was in the champions league last season against Ac Milan and since then he has been rubbish and probably only playing about 60% in each game since. I would have to say that he is no longer the best player in the world to date. I heard that he only trains some of the times with barca first team etc. There is doubt the boy has tallent in abundence, but he's not playing to the standards eveyone expects now. Roy keane always said that he had no talent which is why he ran his B*llo* of every game. If only ronnie did the same, cause at the moment barca are a team with only 10 players each week.

F(u)ck sake Dowdy, get Ronaldo out of there & stick in Gigi Buffon.
But since he's not there it has to go to Cannavaro doesn't it.

Ronaldo has more right to be on the list than Rooney. I prefer Rooney as a player but drop personal opinions as Ronaldo has done a lot more in 2006 than Rooney.

I agree with whoever said it that Kaka is currently the best player in the world, while Eto'o was probably the form player until he got injured. Cannavaro is obviously going to win it, considering the vote was taken months ago, but I think Kaka deserves it.

He'll win it next year though, so I won't be too upset when Cannavaro gets it - a performance like that in the World Cup deserves something.

My prediction for the 1-2-3 is Cannavaro, Kaka, Ronaldinho.
