Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Fulham 1 - 0 Everton

Sounded like the away side had the lions share of action but a poor Fulham keep thier terrific home record going.

Liverpool playing with Pennant on the right and Zenden the left.

Arsenal could really use someone who can put the ball in the back of the net right now. They've got plenty of players who can do that but they're all out on bloody loan.

My god newcastle are rubbish, i cant believe i actually decided to watch that match. Its was shocking.

0-1 to United, Newcastle are 2nd last, and only by goal difference. I bet Freddy is wishing the other chairmen deicded that you do need UEFA qualifications to manage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭el rabitos

well the only reason i can think as to why roeder got the job in the first place was because the club had to pay a fortune to pay off robson and souness and all their staff, whereas roeder was already employed by the club.

he didnt get the job based on his work at west ham anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭evilhomer

Is it time to send him back to managing the youth team? He doesn't seem to be able to get the players to play for him and I have had to question some of his tactical decisions lately.

Shocking the way, we kept pumping long balls upto short players, when the Sheffield united centre-halves were so much taller and far superior in the air.

At one stage the crowd were chanting "pass the ball, pass the ball, pass the ball!"

On a positive note, Luque looked good when he came on. He should be starting the next premiership game.

Is this the end of the road for Roeder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

the blame has to start with the chairman himself, sacking managers left right and center aint good for the stability of the club and its got worse each time. Roeder is walking a thin line now,id put him down as the firm favourite to be the first to get the chop now, o leary anyone? they probably cant afford sven.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭el rabitos

he'll probably get away with the excuse that they had a match in mid-week that they won, i was suprised to see them beat palermo, their a good team.

That excuse won't wash with the fans. When Sir Bobby was in charge the team had a near 100% winning record on the back of European matches.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭el rabitos

i always thought sacking robson was the dumbest thing possible.

robson probably wouldnt have won them the premiership, but he would have kept the club balanced and gave a good platform for a younger top manager to build on.

instead he was sacked and replaced with souness?? pretty mind boggling

didnt newcastle announce losses of 12 million there last week?

the money might not be there for the likes of sven and other managers that would want huge wages. i imagine roeder is pretty cheap by contrast

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,563 ✭✭✭kinaldo

More mind boggling is the fact that not only did they replace Sir Bobby with one of the few managers that had a worse start to the season than him, but that Newcastle actually had to pay Blackburn compensation despite Souness already being on the verge of the sack. Blackburn are still laughing at us as well as reaping the rewards for getting Bellamy on the cheap last season.

Then we had the farcical situation of having to go to court with Robson to settle his compensation. All of which ended up in Souness ripping the team apart and the club paying him about £2m or something ridiculous like that to get rid of him.

I didn't think it was posible to go backwards from the state Souness left us in, but somehow we've managed to do so. Newcastle are officially the laughing stock of the Premiership. I can't wait for our game at Arsenal in two weeks...:(

Duff hasn't been in great form the past year or so but I can't rememeber ever seeing him play so poor as he did last night. Hopefully we haven't seen the best of him already.
