Get over yourself. If you like it, drive it.
Why do you need other blokes to tell you that your're a man or not. Don't you know that already? The car does not make the man.

it's a Motor car not an After Hours car tbh.

"Fvck dat man dem cars is for girls like, get a haanda civic like and be one of da boyyeess like"

If you like the car , get a test drive in it, see how you find it to drive.Nevermind what peoples opinions are on it.I used to love spinning around the city in a little Ford Ka from work , really fun car to drive.

I sell new MINIs. About 55% lads buy it for handling/power/resale reasons, girls buy about 35%, and the other 10% are retired couples looking to relive their youth. I drive one every day, and most of my male mates drive them too.

Have to agree with everyone so far...

Great cars and the styling is just right to appeal to both men and women. It's slightly muscular and beefy while still retaining enough feminine curves to be pleasing to the eye :) Ignoring looks, they are great cars to drive, fun, frisky, good handling and depending on the engine/version can be powerful too.

After re-reading that maybe I should apply for a job writing up reviews for car mags :D

To play devils advocate I will say that the Mini is a girley car. As is the new Beetle and the Hyundai Coupe.

..and overtaking you in your Corsa

lol Cormic, any day boyo, I'll take you for a spin in a Cooper S. More PTW that a Golf GTi, the best handling car in it's class, 5 years servicing for 250 Euro, and the best residuals. I guarantee you you'll change your mind. Any 'hotshot' who comes into the Dealership thinking that a MINI is a girls car quickly changes their mind after seeing what one can do. It's far from girly. Check out the John Cooper Works race challenge!

If you start driving a mini cooper, the next step logically, is dressing up in women's clothes. Keep that in mind.

And that does that apply if its the opposite way around? Pighead never realised he was destined to own a Mini Cooper.

The new Mini Coopers are just fantastic I think. The old ones, however, are far too small for a person of my stature.

You dont have to be a woman to drive one - just gay.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

Myself and the mates have a thing about the mini, I'd say 75%+ of the time is a cracking burd driving it!

Saw a pink one the other day, but black or dark blue with those white stripes on the bonnet looks quality.

to be manly in one you need a very big engine one....

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

There's no big engine Anto ... they're all 1.6's with the exception of the discontinued 1.4 Diesel, and the 1.4i that will come in the near future. There is a 90Bhp, 115Bhp, 163Bhp, 170Bhp and 210Bhp variant of the existing 1.6, and in the new 1.6, there'll be 120Bhp, 175 Bhp and in the future 220 Bhp.

Pink would be interesting. It's never been an available colour, nor will it be, but there was a company in the UK specialising in doing a full colour conversion. I'm nearly certain the one you spotted belongs to a DJ in Dublin.

Well I saw it in Blanchardstown beside the centre, didn't see the driver though.

    Agree 100%. Totally girls cars.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

Ah yes, because the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Jay Kay are all girls. Do you know anything about cars? Yes I'm biased, but because I'm passionate about the car. The MINI and it's predecessor the Mini are the only classless cars - they appealed to everyone, young, old, male, female, rich or poor.

I'm referring to the new MINI, which is now almost the size of a Micra, thus losing the "cute small-sized car" appeal is once had. Now it's purley a trendy retro label, like Vespa scooters, & idiots who wear Atari t-shirts.

Wow. You really know nothing about cars. Take a look at the club website in my sig. There are owners there who own both MINIs and Minis. And I have both too. You become passionate about both. What was great about the old Mini? The looks, the wheels tucked into each corner, the ability to embarass bigger cars, the superb handling, and with the bigger motors, the fantastic rush of power. What Rover did before BMW took them over was take every single one of those qualities and include it in the new one, keeping the fantastic looks. It's not the size of a Micra either mate, it's the size of a Polo, it's deceptively small, you can quite comforatably get 4 adults inside.

It's merely a trendy label? Yes, that's one selling point, but it's so much more than a label. But it's consistently top of the customer satisfaction surveys for reliability, and it genuinely envelops the best of the old Mini, but in a safer, stronger package. Go drive one. You'd be suprised - most of the nay sayers who blab on as if they have a clue have never spent any length of time in them. There's a reason people who drive Classic Minis also buy new MINIs - they're both superb at what they do, and they both make people smile from ear to ear.

MINI is also one of the few cars you can completely customise. The statistic is one in every 8500 MINIs has another one like it on the road. The R56 model launching this month has over 700 interior combinations. Can you get that with a Golf/207? It's all about personality!

Sorry but its a girls car and a common one at that. Every time I see a bloke driving one I have my suspicions. The same goes for a bloke driving a BMW Z3, Mazda MX5 or any of the smaller sports cars..... they just don't look right behind the wheel tbh.

All of that is irrelevant, when I can clearly SEE with my eyes that they look girly - therefore they are (IMO, of course).

I don't think I've ever seen a bloke drive one of the new ones! But obviously that's just co-incidence...

The irony is people who say its a girls car can't know much about driving.
