Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Decent enough system though you may want to consider using an Intel Core 2 system as it's base as in general tasks the Core 2 E6300 runs a bit faster than the X2 4200.

Get an E6300 or E6400 along with a mobo like the MSI 965 one & pick the same components you picked out above and it will be a faster system for probably near the same price.

    PCI-e 512MB ATI RADEON x1300XT TV-out & DVI: € 59.90

Just to point out, if you plan gaming, the X1300 is a really weak card. Don't let the 512mb Ram, which the card can't even utilise, fool you - you're talking about recent games running on low settings.

Thanks for the heads up HavoK. I should have said earlier this will be used primarily for gaming. Anyway changed the card to this :

    PCI-e 512MB NVidia GeForce 7300-GT TV-out- DVI: € 64.90

Would this be better or is that 512mb tricking me again ?

Its actually better but not an awful lot, again a relatively low end card.

With that system and if you plan gaming I would not settle for anything less then a 7600GT or an X1600xt card - both are great cards for the price and will give good performance on current games. A 256mb 7600GT will run rings around a 512mb 7300GT.

The 7300GT will still play new games, as will the X1300, but not at great levels and are a poor match to make with a new dual core processor, you might as well got the whole way.

edit: I would also go for a slightly higher rated psu, to allow comfortabely for any graphics card upgrade in the future....

If your on a budget drop down to the E6300, And go up to a nvidia 7600gt card, This will be a better choice for gaming. The x1300 and 7300 cards are utterly useless, Unless solitare is as good as gaming gets for you.
