Might be a good idea for anyone with dishes in the fornt to move them to the back.

I agree Marcais....You techincally can have a dish to the front of your house if it breeches you Freedom of Information act but only in rare circumstances can they allow you to have a dish to the front when all other avenues are exhausted ie if you can get a signal at the back of your house you move it or if you have no other access to information (its done on a case by case situation but doesnt seem to ever be to the advantage of the householder due to asthetics)...it is not that it is even a problem with the management company it is actually Irish Planning law as they are seen as an "Eye sore" and can be enforced to be taken down at the request of a management company or anyone. For people with them on the back of their houses there is nothing in legal documentation... they cant make you take them down once they have been erected in accordance with the law.......see article 10 for the European Protection of Human Rights and Fundemental Freedoms and it states that everyone has the right to information and only Urban Palnning and Architectual rules effect this freedon ie You cant have a dish to the front of your house - so even if the management company tried to enforce it under their agreements they wouldnt have a leg to stand on as there is no law to govern it unlike having them at the front.;) :)

I have a query relating to this issue about sat. dishes and 'Human Rights & Fundmental Freedoms"...does this apply if there is no other means for receiving TV reception as we do have a terrestrial TV (not great reception albeit) and also the integrated NTL service??? Or is it a situation that you have the right to receive information in which ever way you want to receive it?

As for the planning issue and dishes...Planning Enforcement can actually fine you for doing something to your property without the appropriate permission. And I will say that these fines are substantial!

Indeed, and that's something that never seems to bother developers, however.

This will be the same Derek who said he would drop by my house last October when we discovered we had a blocked drain in our garden along with five drain access points. The thing was blocked with nappies amongst other things and we don't have a baby. Seems we have the whole blocks drain access in our gaff. Resolved the problem ourselves at great cost. Just hope this doesn't become a regular occurence.

Needless to say we're still waiting for you Derek....
