Laugh all you want but what the hell is the difference between raisins, currants and sultanas???
It's been driving me mad for ages trying to define the differences but hav gotten fed up trying!!
Any one out there know the answer to this??

not sure but aren't some of them made from green grapes and some from black grapes? my guess is raisins are black grapes, sultanas are green grapes...as for currants.....who knows?!!

Raisins are dried grapes.

Sultanas are dried seedless white grapes. They tend to be bigger and juicier than raisins.

I thought currants were dried plums or something, but apparently (according to Wikipedia) they're just another varient of raisins.

In Australian English, dried fruits are given different names according to their variety, and generally raisins (grapes) are largest, sultanas (grapes) are intermediate, while currants are smallest.
