Broadband in France

Does anyone know if there is a broadband service available in France for ocassional users who do not wish to subscribe to a monthly subscription? I will be visiting France over the next year on an irregular basis, staying in a house without braodband. Does such a service exist anywhere, by the way? Thanks for any info.
