Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping

    Hi all,

I'd appreciate some advice if you dont mind. We recently moved broadband providers to UTV and went for the wireless option with the BT Voyager 2110 router. We have two laptops connected to the router - one connected physically with ethernet cable (no problems) and one about 10 feet away (no concrete walls etc. in the way) wirelessly that keeps loosing the signal.

If I am using the net on the computer connected wirelessly it may work fine for long periods of time but then all of a sudden any page I try and load times out. If I keep refreshing it normally works fine again in a couple of minutes. During this time I can go to the other computer (connected with the cable) and use the net no problem, and on the computer connected wirelessly no warning dialogs pop up - just the webpages (and other things such as IM clients etc.) time out. If I click on the connection symbol on the bottom right it tells me that there is a "strong signal" though I have noticed the speed sometimes drops below 54mbps (the laptop wireless can use B and G).

    Would really appreciate any help,

    Thanks,

    Cian

PS Ok its just disconnected now while I was typing this. The speed was showing 5mbps and now 24mbps with signal strength "excellent" and status "connected".

Update the drivers for your laptop wireless card.

Also try changing the wireless channel on the router to another channel.

I had a similar problem with a 3com wireless router and reinstalled drivers on the computer and also the firmware on the router and the problem was fixed.

Thanks for the replies irlrobbins & Paulj.

I updated the router firmware during the week and tried changing the channels to one or two others(maybe I should have tried them all?). I managed to update my wireless card drivers last night so fingers crossed! :)
