java calling html pages

Hi there

I'm just looking for a pointer in the right direction here

What I'm looking to do call a HTML page on a server from java
and then process the raw html in my java code

if this makes sense .. any pointers to which api I should be looking at?

P.s. what I'm looking to do is call an existing web page (.asp) with some parameters and extract the values it returns back so I can use it in my own java code!

you could use Jakarta Commons HttpClient
http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/

This lets you programatically build up a post or a get request for a web page, and deal with the corresponding request. Its pretty simple to use, is very extensive, supporting https as well.

HttpClient is very good but it can be simpler to use the standard networking libraries.

httpClient was exactly what I wanted and did the job really well

JSTL works as well, with <c:import> (but I think thats just an implementation of httpClient)
