Anyone else seen their latest output? Saw a video earlier while lounging around, and was amazed when the title came up and it was Incubus! It sounded like a feckin' indie band! Anna Molly or somesuch was the song methinks, but it appears that gone are the days of the aggression of S.C.I.E.N.C.E and in are the days of sappy singing in the vein of every goddamn indie band out there, and no more cool riffs or funky basslines either by the sound of it. Incubus RIP :( Damn shame too, they were a great band.

Bollox!! I had a horrible feeling this might happen. My favourite band!! The last album took a bit of getting used to and now this!! WHY??!!
It brings a tear to my eye:(
Jose Pasillas will always be the greatest drummer tho.

the band are evolving. you have your nu-metaltastic riffs, funky lines and what not already. no point in letting history repeat itself... i personally loved the last album as soon as i heard it. has some of their best songs to date. anna molly is a great song too... definitely looking forward to this.

Wish You Were Here and Are You In were used in pretty much every episode of Cribs or other gay MTV sh1t cos theyre so preeeettty. And successful. Hence reproduce more radio friendly stuffs. Damn them, I love Science. But Make Yourself is my fave album. I was really into them, saw em a couple of years back n then stopped listening to em. Weird.

Can't wait. Light Grenades in the post. I personally like the new stuff. Thought ACLOTM was odd at first but love it now. I listen to the whole catalogue. Hilikus is one of my fave songs, but then again so is Southern Girl! I also think the songs from the Stealth soundtrack and the 4 Movements of Odessey from Halo 2 are class.

As was mentioned before what's the point in having 5 albums that sound exactly the same? Varitey is the spice of life, think Primal Scream!!

As for indie? Nah, too wierd to be Indie. And they overwhelming music talent is still there. IMO anyway.

They better play over here. Otherwise I'll have to travel. Hmmm, not a bad idea.

The song I heard was nothing requiring half a musical brain to be honest. It was bog standard indie, not weird in the slightest. Terribly disappointing.

Indie? Are you serious? Please don't be so ignorant to judge a band's new material merely on one song.

Here's samples from their new album:

If you care to take a listen then you may offer your opinion.

Oh you may also want to watch this to dispel your belief of their 'indieness':

Dude, neither of those did anything but heighten my belief that they've become another indie band.

That's the Incubus I know and love, this new drivel is very poor.

I wasn't really completely impressed when I first heard Anna Molly, listened to it a couple of times and I didn't really put much thought into it. Then I was at home and I had some music channel on in the backround that I wasn't watching and the song kicked in and I thought, Oo this sounds alright and didn't realize it was incubus til I looked up

I'm looking forward to the album though, they're one of my favourite bands.

I havn't heard their new stuff yet. The first single off Crow..album really dissapointed me, when I heard the stuff from that album at the last concert in Point it really didn't entiace me to buy that album. Or download it. In fact you could sense crowd's restlessness at a lot of it, and only really got goin when the older stuff was played, mad mosh pits at back n all. Listen to your original fans incubus!! Make them happy!!

Edit: Just listened to those vids on Curious George's links.
Eugh, boring. I have to agree with It Wasn't Me. It IS indie... Just kinda girlie mellow rock. Polished nicely in a studio. Sorry, but there's none of that raw energy or spacey weirdness. Reminds me of how RHCP went after BSSM Whole another story ;)

No, it's bands realising that they can make more money from finding a niche in fanbase by changing their style to suit whatever is "in" at that time.. yay!

How is changing what is already a successful formula 'finding a niche'? By the sounds of it most people don't even like their new stuff so who knows if it's going to make them more money. So tell me then, what's "in" right now?
Trust me, the easiest route they could have possibly taken to make more money would have been to release the same album/music they've already done before. It's pretty foolish of you to think you have some kind of insight into the band's motives behind the new album. You can't read minds. Haha, I hope you can't enjoy the new album. :)

aw please, catch a grip peops!

they've done some FANTASTIC things in the past.. and are one of the most talented bands out there, regardless of how successful the were or are.

i havnt heard anything off the new album but i hear its v.differant but also a great album.

yoou should give it a good listen, the whole album i mean, and regardless of weather you end up liking it or not, you should at least respect them for trying something new and taking their music somewhere else..

iv seen it with other bands, they try a new sound and their previously big fanbase just shrinks..even if the 'new stuff' is really really good.
people arn't willing to give it a chance

Change of opinion here. I got the new album on friday and listened to it through straight away. I must admit, its pretty ****ing good!! It doesnt take long to get used to like CLOTM did and the songs are really catchy. I have it on repeat in my cd player now anyway.
Fair play to incubus for churning out another good disc!

Not happy. Just got it on download. (p*ssed off waiting for it to come in the post) Not happy at all. Some nice bit's and pieces but overall it's a big "Could Do Better".
Hopefully like A Crow Left of the Murder it will grow on me, but after the first couple of runs through it's not doin it. Fingers crossed.
Anna Molly and Rogues thumbs up imo.

Starting to think the "could do better" is a little bit of a "did do better". It's just different is all. Growing on me. From past experience an album that takes a few listens to appreciate lasts longer in the long run. Too many CDs I thought were amazing straight off got boring very quick.
In short this could be very good yet.

i'm with you. first listen was a huge "meh" from me, but the more i try it the more i like. it was the same with "a crow left...". took some time to get into it, but the effort was worth it as it's a very rewarding album.

one thing though, i'm a fan of the roots and slightly disappointed by ben kenny here. he's very (VERY) good live... sure you can even see that on the live DVD, but he doesn't shine on this album at all.

True. Although I'm listening to crappy mp3s. I'll see what Kenny sounds like on a proper sound system next weekend when I finally get honme to the CD!! :P Kilmore seems to be a bit quiter too but he's no doubt adding in stuff all over the shop as usual that beefs it up. Kinda easy to not pay attention to his work but if it wasn't there you'd miss it.
